Dropping Books - Sharing The Love

Watch out! Books are dropping all over River North.

In an effort to share our love of literacy with the city we love, Open Books is dropping books around town throughout the day at various River North hot spots.

Keep your eyes peeled for books popping up in unusual spots with our big red bookmarks sticking out!  Books could be hanging from trees, hiding out at an El stop, taking trips on an elevator... anywhere you might be, really.

Another great way to celebrate Drop Everything and Read Day is to sit and watch the way passers-by react to our dropped books!

On Monday, April 13,
from 9am – 5pm,
the typically busy and bustling Open Books office will be quiet.

Why, you ask?

We’re going to
DROP EVERYTHING
and READ.

We all have enough reasons to feel bad right now. Aside from the usual day-to-day pressures we all experience, the sinking economy can contribute to a life that feels uncertain, overwhelming, and incredibly stressful.

Open Books is providing an opportunity for all of us to take a much deserved break from the stress. Come join us in our office on Monday, April 13 as we observe National Drop Everything and Read Day! We passionately believe in the benefits of reading, but we also realize how difficult it is to find time within your busy life to sit down with a book. That’s why we’ve decided to set everything aside for one day. This is your chance to spend the day relaxing with a cup of coffee and good book…there’s no better way to beat the blues.

Experience the joy of reading and DROP EVERYTHING with us.

Reasons To Feel Great About Reading
* Be a “green” reader! Share, pass on, or donate your books to Open Books when you have finished them.

* Save money by letting your book be your cheap date! You don’t have to empty your wallet in a desperate attempt to entertain yourself. Drop a few bucks on a book and treat yourself to hours of entertainment.

* Improve your health! Reading has been scientifically proven to improve your memory and concentration.
