Open Books is thrilled to announce that Make the Case, Chicago’s only bookcase-decorating contest to benefit local students, is back! Save the date of Friday, November 3 at Moonlight Studios in the West Loop.
Make The Case is a fun-filled evening where teams of local literacy supporters go head-to-head trying to decorate the coolest, most creative bookcase they can in three hours.
Spectators are invited to cheer on the teams; enjoy food, drinks, and music; and submit their votes for the best case. At the end of the evening, the winning team receives fabulous prizes and bragging rights for a year. After the event, Open Books stocks the shelves with engaging, age-appropriate, high-quality books through our book granting program, and donates them to classrooms and nonprofit organizations throughout the city.
In 2016, more than 300 people attended Make the Case, helping to grant more than 130,000 books in the 2016-17 school year.
