Open Books Mobile

Open Books Mobile is our free, traveling physical bookstore, designed to bring high-quality books and literacy resources directly to communities. With a capacity of 2,000 books, we offer titles in English and in Spanish for all ages. 

The Booksmobile isn’t only a vehicle for books, it’s also a dynamic, barrier-free entry point into the expansive worlds that reading unlocks. Open Books Mobile is for community partners and for public-facing events (ie, no private parties). We’re available for booking as the weather permits in spring, summer, and early fall.

We bring book access into the areas that need it most. As such, we prioritize applicants from our priority neighborhoods, which are Little Village, Pilsen, Back of the Yards, Brighton Park, McKinley Park, Englewood, North Lawndale, Garfield Park, Gage Park and Austin.
