Creative Writing Workshops are unforgettable 2-hour experiences where 3rd-12th graders develop their writing skills in meaningful and creative ways. At our colorful literacy center, students and their enthusiastic volunteer writing coaches read sample work, discuss it as a group, and write their own prose or poetry. At the end of the session, they perform their writing on our special stages and bask in enthusiastic applause. (Just ask any past participant about the joy of wearing The Pencil Costume!) Students go home with a book of their choice from the award-winning Open Books store, and in about a month they receive published copies of the entire class’s work to keep and share.
