Join us and The Talbott Hotel as we celebrate the history of Chicago and the joy of reading! Middle school and high school students are invited to submit original pieces of work with a Chicago theme for a chance to win a one-night staycation with their family, as well as books from either our West Loop or Pilsen locations!

Candidates will also have the opportunity to have their pieces read by local author Jessica Mlinaric (Secret Chicago: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure) and Matt Kirouac (author of Unique Eats & Eateries Chicago). Rules & restrictions apply.

Students can submit their Chicago-themed stories to [email protected] starting Monday, March 26. The competition will run from March 26-April 30. We request that students submit only one story. Word Limit: 1,000 words.

1st place will receive a one night stay at the hotel with their family, and two books from Open Books
2nd place will receive two books
3rd place will receive one book
