Game of Thrones Trivia Night

To the most Noble House in all Westeros,

We are pleased to invite you to the King’s Landing in West Loop’s Open Books for a grand evening of the finest event this side of the Narrow Sea. Join the Queen for trivia of our history as recorded by Grand Maester George R. R. Martin.

Kindly arrive in your best Westeros, Medieval, or Chicago attire at 5:30 in the evening to register your House for the Maester’s trivia, which will begin in the throne room at 6:30.

Pose for your royal portrait as the Queen allows you to briefly sit on the Iron Throne. Enjoy Dornish wine and spirits in exchange for donations to the Night’s Watch. The first 30 in attendance will leave King’s Landing with your very own dragon egg.

Send a raven to your Allied Houses to gather together for this most excellent evening and win the great honour of First Place of Trivia.

We look forward to your presence. All proceeds support Open Books literacy and book programs.

80 Minutes Around The World: Immigration Storytelling

80 Minutes Around the World Immigration Storytelling show features the stories and experiences of immigrants and allies of various ages, backgrounds, genders and economic status. The show was born out of the need to combat the criminalization of immigrants and refugees by the current administration.

Make The Case 2017

Join us for MAKE THE CASE 2017 at Moonlight Studios!

Make the Case is a fun-filled evening where teams of local literacy supporters go head-to-head trying to decorate the coolest, most creative bookcase they can in three hours. Spectators are invited to cheer on the teams; enjoy food, drinks, and music; and submit their votes for the best case. At the end of the evening, the winning team receives fabulous prizes and bragging rights for a year. After the event, Open Books stocks the shelves with engaging, age-appropriate, high-quality books through our Book Worm Angels program, and donates them to classrooms and nonprofit organizations throughout the city. In 2015, more than 300 people attended Make the Case, helping to grant more than 125,000 books in the 2015-2016 school year.

There will also be music, raffle prizes, open bar, food and fun!
